About Utsadanam

Utsadanam is an ayurvedic treatment that involves massaging the body with medicinal paste. In Utsadana, the powders of medicinal drugs are combined with ghee or oil to make a paste. This paste is then rubbed over your body in a reverse or upward direction over the body.

Udvartana treatment is the most common ayurvedic treatment for losing weight. When we refer to the classics, we have different types of Udvartana, classified according to their action on our body and its result.

Sushruta, the father of Ayurvedic surgery, divides the Ayurvedic powder massages into three parts: Utsadana, Udvartana, and Udgharshana.

Udvartana: This involves the application of tailas and churnas on the whole body to strengthen the body and reduce fat. They also ensure that the body does not become too dry or rough in the process.
Udgharshana: This treatment involves the use of dry and rough powders to remove the excess earth and water element or Kapha. It is mostly done for obese and diabetic patients.
Utsadana: This is also known as Snigdha Udvartana. A mixture of oil and powder is rubbed all over the body in Utsadana.

Udvartana and Utsadana are similar treatments where the herbal pastes made of different oils and powders are applied to your body to achieve a specific result. These oils and powders help enhance and exfoliate the complexion and glow of your skin. It is a highly rejuvenating treatment.
