A menstrual disorder is defined as any abnormal condition affecting a person's menstrual cycle. Most women go through their menstrual cycles with little or no problems. Their menstrual cycle runs like clockwork every month, producing minor irritation. However, menstruation problems afflict a large number of women. They are experiencing physical and/or emotional symptoms right before and during menstruation. From excessive bleeding and missed periods to uncontrollable mood swings, these symptoms can severely interrupt a woman's life. Normal monthly cycle changes can occur; however, menstrual problems might include periods that are fewer than 21 days apart, more than 3 months apart, or last more than 10 days.
Premenstrual disorder, disorder of cycle length, disorder of flow, disorder of ovulation, and other menstrual disorders are the various types of menstrual disorders. Premenstrual disorders include premenstrual syndrome and premenstrual dysphoric disorder, Disorders of cycle length include amenorrhea, irregular menstruation, oligomenorrhea, and polymenorrhea, Disorder of flow include abnormal uterine bleeding, hypomenorrhea, menorrhagia, and metrorrhagia, Disorder of ovulation include anovulation and oligoovulation, and Other menstrual disorders include dysmenorrhea.

Treatment in Ayurveda
