Asthma is a condition in which your airways constrict and swell, causing excessive mucus production. As a result, breathing might become difficult, leading to coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath. Asthma is merely a minor issue for some people. Others may find it to be a severe issue that interrupts everyday activities and can lead to a life-threatening asthma attack. It's impossible to cure asthma but its symptoms can be controlled. Because asthma symptoms might change over time, it's critical to collaborate with your doctor to monitor your symptoms.
Breathing difficulties, tightness or discomfort in the chest, and wheezing when exhaling is a frequent symptoms of asthma in youngsters. Sleeping difficulties caused by shortness of breath, coughing or wheezing attacks worsened by a respiratory illness, such as the common cold or the flu can lead to asthma. Asthma episodes are life-threatening. 

Treatment in Ayurveda

According to Ayurveda asthma is caused by Kapha and Vata doshas. Asthma is caused by a buildup of Kapha in the airways or tubes. It can be treated through ayurvedic treatment:

  • Therapeutic vomiting treatment
  • Herbal therapies using herbs

Taking a diet can help in controlling asthma. 

  • A diet high in essential fatty acids, particularly omega-3 oils, as well as foods high in vitamin A and vitamin C is recommended.
  • Green leafy vegetables, fresh fruits, onions, ginger, black pepper and herbs are all beneficial.
  • Patients are recommended to avoid sour, spicy, pungent meals, deep-fried, and preservative-containing processed foods. They should avoid curd, grains, and cheese. Wine, beer, and cider should be avoided since they trigger asthma attacks.
  • Patients must avoid allergy foods such as meat, eggs, and fish.
  • Drink warm water.
